TELEMEDICINE WORKSHOP IN UGANDA ATTENDED BY PROF. DR. O. FERRER-ROCA, RESPONSABLE OF THE UNESCO CHAIR OF TELEMEDICINE.

 

In the I Telemedicine symposium of Uganda (see program), Prof. Dr. O. Ferrer-Roca, the UNESCO chair woman of Telemedicine give 5 lectures. The attendance to the symposium (see Photo 1) is part of the diffusion activity of Telemedicine for improvement of the education and health levels in developing countries.

This meeting held in December 2000 at the University of Mekerere, was the consequence of a first contact that Prof. Dr. O. Ferrer-Roca established last year with Dr. Iga Matovu (Photo 2) from the Radiology Department at Mulago Hospital (Photo 3).  He attended under the sponsorship of the UNESCO chair of Telemedicine to the  VIII Winter Course of the CATAI.

During the symposium with around 150 professionals from Computer Science, health manager and health care people that was demonstration of the TeleInVivo System.

During the stay it was agreed with the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Sewankambo the exchange of young doctors expert on Telemedicine and the collection of computers from European countries to be sent to the University of Mekerere, as well as the sponsorship of the attendance of Dr. Byanyina from the Radiology Department to the IX Winter Course of the CATAI.(Photo4)
