REQUIREMENTS FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP IN THE ULL

The scholarship holders of the UNESCO Chair of Telemedicine in the University of La Laguna have to fulfil the following rules and requirements that should be signed before being accepted and travelling to the Canary Islands.

1- 1- During their stay the scholarship holders are under the tutorship of the Telemedicine team in the Faculty of Medicine and subsidiary by the ULL and the UNESCO Chair of Telemedicine.
2- 2- The co-responsibility of this tutorship obliges them to maintain the team informed about their extra-laboratory activities, particularly if those activities include travelling or change of residence place. In this case the scholarship holders are obliged to give the address and phone numbers to the team, and to ask their tutors at country of origin and their parents for permission, who have to send a letter of consent.
3- 3- If the scholarship holders want to take their own risks, they will have to sign upon arrival a “letter of responsibility relieve” stating specifically that, at an adult age and being totally responsible of their own lifes and activities, do not want to fulfil the point “2” requirements and therefore release the University of La Laguna and the team where they are working as well as the UNESCO Chair of Telemedicine from all responsibility.
4- 4- The scholarship holders will be permanently tutored by the scientific responsible of the University of origin. The students must have weekly contact with this responsible of the University, who will assure that they are not only improving in Telemedicine but also are OK for the remaining issues. Scholarship holders should write a follow up memorandum every Friday. The feed-back of this memorandum should be received by the responsible of the UNESCO Chair of Telemedicine in the ULL if necessary.
5- 5- The minimum stay of the scholarship holders will be of 3 weeks and the maximum of 2,5 months.
6- 6- The scholarship holders will have a minimum age and years at the University before being able to be accepted. Only long cycle students (5 to 6 years) will be accepted and they should have been at least for 3 years at the University.
7- 7- The type of activities that they will do in the ULL will be exclusively related with Telemedicine. Any other conection to other institutions or departments will require specific authorization. The lack of accomplishment of scholarship holders’ commitments and agreements with the second institution/department implies the automatic fire out from the project, the immediate detailed information to the University of origin and a common decision if the student can continue in the UNESCO Chair project.
8- 8- After the period of stay, the scholarship holders can demand a letter signed by the International Faculty of Medicine responsible about their activities and improvement at the ULL. Any other requirement letter or certificates from the University of origin have to be requested in advance.
9- 9- All material elaborated through the scholarship holders should be left in the ULL and will be sent/facilitated/provided to the University of origin during scholarship holders’ stay or upon their return back. Use of this material should be agreed among both Universities. The lack of fulfil of this requirement will be punished by the University of origin.

After a detailed reading of the above statements I, Mr/Ms ……………………………. UNESCO Chair Scholarship Holder, at age of……….., and totally responsible of my decisions, accept the above specified conditions before beginning my stay at the above mentioned.
